Unesco Secretary General Milouska Tromp was present at the National Archive to attend an exhibition of the intangible element “Tarai “ in cooperation with the National Archive Aruba where in a small exhibition the element is shown via video, portraits and some materials.
Aruba is a party to the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, which will have a new commission in charge of its implementation. According to UNESCO Secretary General Milouska Tromp part of this is to bring intangible heritage closer to people, museums, communities. It started with a small exhibition but it still gives a lot of information and the beauty of this is that people come and witness this exhibition and learn more about the tarai. The exhibition will remain until december at the National Archives Aruba. The public is welcome to view the exhibition, which features a variety of materials.
The story of the “Tarai “ is very beautiful where, anyone can make a “Tarai “ , today they can really order them, but the beauty of this is if we ourselves know how to make this tradition stays with us. The public video is from Enrique Soto, but his family has also made available materials that are his legacy from his fishing artifacts.
The invitation is for the people of Aruba to visit the National Archives Aruba to learn more about the story of Enrique Soto and his life with his Tarai.
