Anouska Biekman of D66 also attended the “Politiek Café” debate organized by the Arubahuis. She expressed her great appreciation for the event, noting that it clearly reflected the concerns and interests of Aruban students.
Ms. Biekman said she was pleased to hear the critical and thoughtful questions students raised on topics such as education, livelihood security, and internship opportunities. She described the session as a highly engaging and meaningful exchange that demonstrated genuine student engagement.
Finally, Ms. Biekman emphasized that an important issue highlighted during the discussion was that the Caribbean islands are often overlooked in Dutch political programs and debates.
“That’s definitely something we can work on to improve visibility,” she said. “We are one kingdom, and the islands are an integral part of it,” Biekman concluded.
