The Department of Public Health (DVG), together with the Ministry of Public Health, joyfully celebrated the award ceremony for the 12 winners of the “Responsible Owner” School Art Competition. The competition featured 725 paintings from 17 primary schools, demonstrating the enthusiasm of our children to contribute to an Aruba with greater care and responsibility for pets.

Overall Winner

During the ceremony, Sofia Buunen from 5th grade at Princes Amalia Basisschool was announced as the overall winner. Her painting will be transformed into a mural at the future Rescue and Control Center as a lasting symbol of care, protection, and love for animals.

DVG congratulates all the winners and thanks every child who participated. Each painting contributes to a shared message: a pet is a living being that deserves care throughout its entire life.

A heartfelt thank you goes to the school principals, teachers, and parents for their dedication and support. Special recognition goes to Colegio San Hose, Colegio Hilario Angela, and Mon Plaisir School San Nicolas—the three schools with the highest participation. Naturally, DVG prepared a certificate to thank all 17 schools for their grand participation. For schools that did not win an overall award, DVG also prepared a consolation prize for the best painting from each school.

DVG invites the community to follow the example of our children and turn love for animals into action, preventing abandonment and abuse.

Plant love, protect their well-being, and be a responsible owner.

For a harmonious community, be a responsible owner.

Your Health, Our Priority.
