This week, nine Italian students visited Filomena College MAVO in San Nicolas, the first school in Aruba to participate in this project. The group comes from the secondary school ISIS CHARLES DARWIN, the Istituto Statale di Istruzione Superiore in Rome. They are accompanied by two teachers, Antonio Sciortino and Eleonora Minelli.
The project is supported by the Erasmus+ program from the Netherlands, which focuses on exchange and education systems. Each school learns from the other, applying their own teaching methods.
The group of young people follows an extensive program under the guidance of teachers Daisy Franken, Raquel Lampe, Joraine Oduber, and Mariela Carrion. At the end of their stay, they will give a presentation. One of the important topics is the conservation of Aruba’s nature, focusing on both Aruba’s mangroves and coral reefs. For this, the group visited Arikok Park with Rambo Flanegien, Spaans Lagoen, the Aruban Archaeological Museum, and the Aruba Aloe fields in Hato. They also attended some lessons at the school.
The management of Filomena College MAVO welcomed the group and thanked Erasmus+ and Skoa for this opportunity. In February, a group of 15 students from Filomena College will visit Rome.
