Last Tuesday morning, the Minister of Finance, Economic Affairs, and Primary Sector, Mr. Geoffrey Wever, in his capacity as the representative of the Country of Aruba as the sole shareholder of Free Zone Aruba N.V. (FZA), held a meeting with the Supervisory Board of Free Zone Aruba N.V.
During the meeting, the annual accounts for fiscal year 2024 were presented. The minister praised the performance of the Supervisory Board, led by President-Commissioner Mr. Patrick Brown, as well as the management for the way they fulfilled their duties and guided the transition process. After a reorganization process within Free Zone Aruba N.V., which had suffered losses for years, the results for 2024 show an increase in revenue of approximately 400 thousand florins (27.5%) compared to 2023. The net result amounts to 320 thousand florins, and the operating result to 85 thousand florins. It is notable that the changes implemented within the company have borne fruit, and that new companies establishing themselves in the Free Zone have generated additional revenue—a positive development. Projections for 2025 appear even more promising than those of 2024.
Minister Wever congratulates the Supervisory Board and the employees of Free Zone Aruba N.V. for their efforts in restoring and strengthening the financial stability of the company. He emphasized that the financial situation shows significant improvement, reflecting the results of stricter management.
Together with Free Zone Aruba N.V., preparations are underway to formalize a new employment agreement with a new director for the company. A public application process was conducted in which everyone could participate, and soon it will be announced who will become the new director of Free Zone Aruba N.V. This new director will begin leading the company in 2026, guiding it into a new era.
Minister Wever expressed his gratitude to all clients of Free Zone Aruba N.V., the Supervisory Board, and all employees who make it possible for entrepreneurs to establish their businesses within the Free Zone.
This meeting reaffirms the commitment of the Government of Aruba to strengthen the institutions that are fundamental to the sustainable economic development of our country, in line with the goals of the “AVP-FUTURO Governance Program 2025–2028.”
