No More Suffering, One Responsible Pet Owner at a Time

July 27, 2026: Aruba is moving toward a more harmonious community, one responsible pet owner at a time.

Our animals are suffering. Every day, abandoned dogs and cats are seen on the streets, in the sun and rain, looking for food, shelter, and a little affection. Many of them live in constant danger, exposed to hunger, illness, traffic accidents, and abuse. This situation not only affects the welfare of the animals, but also impacts human and animal safety, public health, and the quality of life in our community.

This problem did not arise overnight. It is the result of abandonment, uncontrolled reproduction, and a lack of citizen responsibility toward their pets.

Therefore, the Government of Aruba, through the Ministry of Health, Elderly Care, and Addiction Management, together with the Department of Public Health (DVG), announces that preparations for a new policy for animal and community welfare are in their final phase. The new policy will focus on promoting responsibility, preventing abandonment, and managing and regulating stray animals according to stipulated laws, thereby creating a safer Aruba for both humans and animals.

During the coming weeks, the community will be informed step by step about the different aspects of the new policy and what it truly means to be a responsible pet owner.

The campaign #NoMoreSufferingMoreResponsiblePetOwners invites every citizen to be part of the change. Because solving this problem depends not only on laws and the Government, but also on the commitment and responsibility of every citizen living in Aruba.

Be a responsible pet owner too. Every act of responsibility saves a life. Plant love, give hope, and protect the welfare of our animals.

Together for a Harmonious Community, One Responsible Pet Owner at a Time.
