Speed Control with Arrest for Driving Under the Influence
During the early morning hours of Tuesday, December 24, a speed control was conducted on Kaya Korona. A laser speed gun was used to measure the speed of approaching vehicles. During the control, two (2) citations were issued for exceeding the maximum permitted speed of 40 km/h. The highest recorded speed was 66 km/h.
In addition, two (2) drivers were fined for driving without valid insurance, and one (1) driver received a citation for driving without a valid driver’s license.
At approximately 3:45 a.m., a 22-year-old man with initials T.H.M.S. was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. The suspect showed several characteristics consistent with alcohol consumption and underwent a breathalyzer test, which returned a positive result. As a consequence of the test analysis, the suspect’s driver’s license was confiscated.
KPCN will continue conducting these types of speed enforcement controls in various parts of the island and warns all motorists to pay close attention to their driving speed. Within urban areas (bebouwde kom), the maximum permitted speed is 40 km/h, and outside urban areas it is 60 km/h.
Arrest for Public Intoxication
On Monday, December 23, at approximately 4:30 p.m., a 63-year-old man with initials G.L.M. was arrested on Boulevard Miguel Pourier for public intoxication. To sober up, the suspect was taken to the Caribbean Netherlands Correctional Institution (JICN).
Arrest for Robbery with Violence
On Monday, December 23, at approximately 2:00 p.m., a 26-year-old man with initials B.G.S. was arrested at the police station. The arrest took place within the framework of an ongoing investigation into a robbery with violence that occurred on Saturday, December 20, 2025. The investigation in this case is ongoing.
Scooter Accident
On Monday, December 23, at approximately 2:25 a.m., the central dispatch center received a report of a scooter accident on Kaya J.N.E. Craane. Upon arrival, police determined that the driver had collided with a tree stump. An ambulance transported the driver to the hospital for medical treatment.
