Only a few days remain until the arrival of New Year 2026, and the Aruba Police are making an appeal for calm and responsibility during the holiday period. According to police spokesperson Liliana Rasmijn, most of the holiday days passed peacefully, but there were some accidents that resulted in minor damage.
On December 26, around 2:22 p.m., the police central received a notification of an accident on Wolfstraat, where a car had run over a 5-year-old child. An ambulance was immediately dispatched to the scene. When the first patrol arrived, the child was in a serious but stable condition, showing clear signs of having been involved in an accident. The medical team began treatment and urgently transported the child to the hospital, where their condition remains delicate.
During the night of December 27, around 8:00 p.m., a car hit two people on Pos Abou. The patrol found two injured women at the scene, while the driver had fled. Both victims were treated and urgently transported to the hospital; one of them is in critical condition, while the other is stable. The police are urging the driver to surrender promptly and are inviting the public to provide any information via tipline 11141.
The police remind drivers that, as the end of 2025 approaches, it is important to drive with caution, reduce speed, have all documents in order, use seatbelts, avoid using a cellphone while driving, and never drive under the influence of alcohol. It is recommended to designate a responsible driver for holiday celebrations.
Finally, the police extend their wishes to the people of Aruba for a happy and safe New Year 2026.
