Soroptimist International Club Aruba is a vital part of Soroptimist International, a global organization dedicated to educating, empowering, and providing opportunities for women and girls around the world.
An organization with a deep history
Soroptimist International began as a women’s service club in Oakland, California, in 1921. The organization created a space where women could come together and work to improve their own lives and the lives of others. It was founded at a time when women did not have the same political and social rights they have today.
Today, Soroptimist International is a global organization with thousands of clubs and more than 60,000 members in over 100 countries, working at both local and international levels to empower women and girls.
Soroptimist International Club Aruba
In Aruba, Soroptimist International Club Aruba represents this global vision and mission. The club was established to help promote projects within the local community, focusing on:
- Empowerment of women and girls
- Raising awareness about important social issues
- Education and opportunities for a better life
- Activities related to International Women’s Day
During an event, club representative Magali Maduro shared information about the organization and its objectives in Aruba.
Addressing sensitive topics
One of the initiatives organized by Soroptimist International Club Aruba is an information day in connection with International Women’s Day. The topic addressed during this day concerns an issue that many people prefer not to talk about, but the club and professionals are making efforts to bring clarity and open conversation within the community.
According to Magali Maduro, the selection of this topic was not random; it is based on research and the realities present in Aruba, highlighting the need to continue raising awareness and educating the public about this matter.
A global mission
Soroptimist International is dedicated to transforming the lives and status of women and girls. The organization has joined with strategic pillars within the community to reach more women and encourage participation in this symposium.
The activity in connection with International Women’s Day will take place on Saturday, March 7, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Educampus (formerly Bon Bini Bazaar).
