An news team from EA News has traveled to the disaster site in Venezuela, where a catastrophic earthquake has left a landscape of sadness, pain, and deep mourning. We entered exactly at the moment when rescue teams, in a superhuman effort, managed to recover the lifeless bodies of three family members: the mother, the father, and their young daughter of just 6 years old.
This tragedy becomes even more painful as it was revealed that the young daughter and her father gave their last signs of life early in the morning, around 7:00 AM on June 27. Despite the attempts to save them, the collapse proved fatal before rescuers could reach them.
The specialists, doctors, and first responders have been working tirelessly without stopping since Wednesday, June 24, facing danger and a shortage of time to try to locate survivors beneath the concrete.
Heroes at the disaster site
Amidst the pain, the community recognizes the courage of the rescue team and medical personnel who left everything behind to enter the disaster zone at Residencias La Mar, located in the José Laurencio Silva Municipality in Tucacas. Among these heroes who have worked uninterruptedly are:

The situation in Tucacas remains highly tense, and medical and rescue teams continue to evaluate the ruins of Residencias La Mar. Besides the situation in Tucacas, there are also movements in other states.
The disaster caused by this double earthquake (terremoto doble) in Venezuela, which occurred recently on June 24, 2026, has severely affected the northern and northwestern regions of the country. The states and areas most affected where disaster declarations have been issued are:
- La Guaira (formerly Vargas State): This is the structurally most destroyed area and is considered “ground zero” of the tragedy. Parishes and residential areas such as Caraballeda (especially Los Corales and Tanaguarena) and El Caribe suffered massive building collapses.
- Capital District (Caracas): Significant damage was observed in the capital, especially in residential areas like Altamira and Los Palos Grandes (Chacao municipality), where high-rise buildings structurally collapsed into each other.
- Yaracuy: This was the epicenter of the first earthquake (magnitude 7.2) and the second one (7.5, near Yumare).
- Carabobo: Suffered extensive damage, with roads and infrastructure collapsing, such as the main highway to Morón.
- Miranda: Different municipalities and cities (such as Charallave) suffered major structural damage to housing and buildings.
- Aragua: Buildings suffered damage and walls collapsed, specially reported in areas like Maracay (Andrés Bello).
- Falcón: Damage was also registered due to the force of the two earthquakes and the aftershocks that followed. Tucacas is located on the north-coastal front of Venezuela, in the Falcón State (Silva municipality).
In the context of the recent earthquake on June 24, 2026, Tucacas turned out to be one of the worst-affected areas in the Falcón State. Particularly, in the Lamar Suite sector and areas like Boca de Aroa and Cayomar, building collapses, serious structural damage to homes and hotels, and the breakdown of utility infrastructure were observed, requiring intensive rescue operations.
In total, this disaster has affected at least six major states alongside the Capital District and Isla de la Tortuga, leaving a high number of victims and hospitals in a state of national emergency.
