Daughter of Fatal Accident Victim Clarifies Information and Demands True Justice

Yhoelly Willems

Yhoelly Willems, the daughter of one of the victims who lost their lives in a recent fatal accident caused by a driver under the influence, has come forward in a press conference. Willems reacted firmly to recent statements made by the parents of the youth who caused the tragedy, clarifying information that, according to her, does not align with the truth and “did not sit well.”

During her statement, Willems expressed the deep pain her family is living through and issued a strong appeal to the community regarding the driver’s irresponsibility. “These are two lives that were ripped away from this world due to the irresponsibility of a drunk driver behind the wheel,” she declared, urging all drivers to find someone else to drive if they have been drinking.

Willems gave a special thanks to a police officer, whom she identified as Officer Jonathan Orman, who was present at the scene of the accident. She stated that the officer acted properly and swiftly to ensure the license plate, the color of the car, and all necessary details were noted down to capture the suspect before they could leave the scene. “If it weren’t for this officer who acted so quickly, this suspect would have gone home and the case would not have come forward,” Willems explained.
Regarding the legal aspect, she clarified that the case is now proceeding through lawyers. She also reacted to public statements made by the opposing side, confirming that the suspect (Shanaya) has more than one lawyer in her defense and that the case already began pro forma on April 10. Willems expressed that she is pleased the Public Prosecutor’s Office (OM) issued a statement explaining that the suspect has a right to legal representation within the framework of applicable law, but emphasized that the OM is indeed conducting the corresponding investigation.
Family Trauma and a Response to the Suspect’s “Trauma”

Reacting to statements made by the suspect’s mother regarding her child’s “trauma,” Willems shared the reality that she herself has to face. She explained that she had to see her mother lifeless at the scene of the accident, a sight that has left a deep scar on her life.

In addition to this, Willems revealed personal details surrounding the tragedy, sharing that she was pregnant at the time of the accident. Sadly, her mother never got the opportunity to meet her first grandchild. “This is not about who has more trauma than the other; my point is that she needs to be in jail. She caused a fatal accident where two innocent people lost their lives,” Willems declared.
In the end, the victim’s daughter placed her trust in justice and requested that the punishment be properly applied in accordance with current laws for the irresponsibility that took the lives of two people.
