According to MP Dangui Oduber, those who do not love the country of Aruba are the ones who believe in a Kingdom Act (Rijkswet). It is regrettable that after so much advice, we are still talking about a Rijkswet, given that Aruba’s finances are better and Aruba has always met its debt obligations.
According to MP Dangui Oduber: “It is people who do not love this country, people who lack the capacity and the love to lead this country, to govern it, who want a Rijkswet.”
“When we talk about control, it is ironic, because the very minister, Gerlien Croes, who advocates for more control and transparency, does not want parliament to oversee her. She does not want to be transparent. That means these two politicians, both Gerlien Croes and Geoffrey Wever, are walking contradictions, because every time, they contradict themselves. Gerlien says ‘I want more control,’ and when parliament exercises control, she answers us ‘I owe you no explanation.'”
“These are the politicians we have today who supposedly came to practice a new kind of politics, but in the end, it results in politics even more traditional than those they refer to as traditional politicians.”
Minister Gerlien Croes stated in an interview that every vote against HOFA is a vote against future generations. According to MP Dangui Oduber: “I believe that every vote in favor of HOFA is a betrayal of our history. It is a betrayal of those who fought for us to be a free country as we are today.”
“Thanks to our Status Aparte, our country was able to develop economically and create the opportunities that allow her to be a minister of a country today. Otherwise, she would be a commissioner with no say, as is the case in Bonaire.” According to MP Dangui Oduber, he read a column in Bonaire about what Bonaireans think of their current situation and how poverty has increased since they became a municipality.
“Is that what Gerlien Croes wants for future generations today? Do not let yourself be deceived, do not let yourself be manipulated, do not let yourself be misinformed, because HOFA has no benefit for this country. HOFA is a betrayal of the freedom we are enjoying,” according to MP Dangui Oduber.
“You surrender your right to make your own decisions for a bag of money. Because at the end of the day, a country’s freedom is something sacred, and a country’s freedom cannot have a price tag. Yet these two politicians, Geoffrey Wever and Gerlien Croes, want to tie our country’s freedom to make its own decisions to a bag of money, which is condemable, repudiable, and regrettable.”
