MP Eduard Pieters (PPA): “Today we rebuild the Patriotic Center; tomorrow we rebuild the nation of Aruba.” PPA restores its center in San Nicolas and opens its doors to everyone willing to contribute to Aruba’s future

Eduard Pieters

For more than 20 years, PPA’s Patriotic Center in San Nicolas remained in disrepair. PPA itself spent nearly two decades without representation in Parliament. Now, following its return to Parliament, the party is rebuilding its headquarters. For Member of Parliament Eduard Pieters, the parallel holds a clear political meaning: PPA has returned to build. “Today, in a symbolic way, we are rebuilding the Patriotic Center. And tomorrow, with God’s power and the people’s will, we will rebuild this nation once again”.

A center to bring the people closer to politics

According to Pieters, the work to restore the Patriotic Center began following the 2024 elections, when PPA secured the necessary votes to return to Parliament after 20 years.

The goal is not merely to renovate a building. PPA aims to create a space where citizens can approach the party, receive information, and meet their representatives and candidates.

Although the center is located in San Nicolas, Pieters emphasizes that its function will serve all of Aruba: “We need a center where we can provide information to our supporters, as well as to the entire people of Aruba”.

Mike de Meza: open doors, but no decision made

During the press conference, Pieters was asked about speculation regarding a potential return of Mr. Mike de Meza, who began his political career within PPA. Pieters made no announcement regarding a return, but stated: “Options always remain open”.

He further emphasized that this invitation extends far beyond a single individual: “This invitation is not only for Mike de Meza. It is for anyone who wants to come work, help Aruba, and defend this island—everyone is welcome in PPA”.

For Pieters, PPA possesses a legacy and track record in Aruba’s development, but the party is now focused on the future: strengthening its organization, continuing to grow, and bringing together people who wish to contribute.

From rebuilding a building to rebuilding the country

The Patriotic Center thus becomes more than concrete and bricks. It represents a building that was in decay and is now rising again; a party that spent two decades outside Parliament and has returned. According to Pieters, the next step is translating that return into action.

“Today we rebuild the Patriotic Center. Tomorrow, with God’s power, the people’s will, and their support, we will rebuild the nation of Aruba,” Eduard Pieters concluded.
