On Tuesday, August 18, another special edition of “Buki di Pret” took place aboard Carnival Cruise Line’s cruise ship, Carnival Horizon. Organized by the Aruba Tourism Authority (A.T.A.) in collaboration with Aruba Ports Authority N.V. (APA), the activity brought together more than 60 children between the ages of 8 and 14 for a day full of education, inspiration, and fun in the fascinating world of tourism and cruising.

A highlight of the visit was the meeting with Carnival Corporation’s Senior Vice President of Government & Destination Affairs, Marie McKenzie, alongside Carnival Cruise Line COO Sarah Beth Reno and Captain Rocco Lubrano of the Carnival Horizon, who welcomed the group on board. During the meeting, they warmly welcomed the children and met with the official delegation consisting of the Minister of Tourism, Transport and Labor, Wendrick Cicilia, and his Chief of Staff, Phillipe La Reine; Ronella Croes, CEO of the Aruba Tourism Authority; Marc Figaroa, CEO of Aruba Ports Authority N.V.; and other representatives of A.T.A. and APA N.V. The meeting highlighted the value of the ongoing alliance between Aruba and Carnival Cruise Line and the shared commitment to continuing to create tourism and development opportunities for Aruba.

During the official onboard visit, the Aruba Tourism Authority also presented a commemorative plaque to Aruba Ports Authority N.V. in celebration of its 45th anniversary. Aruba Ports Authority N.V. was established 45 years ago and officially celebrated this special milestone on August 18, 2026. This recognition highlighted APA N.V.’s valuable contribution to Aruba’s development as a cruise destination and the strong collaboration between both organizations to strengthen our island’s tourism industry.

The children had the opportunity to experience firsthand how the cruise industry operates and to appreciate the important role that tourism plays in Aruba’s economic development. Throughout the day, they participated in an onboard tour and enjoyed various recreational and educational activities. The children’s enthusiasm and excitement demonstrated, once again, the success of this program.

A.T.A. and APA N.V. are proud to continue supporting initiatives that educate and inspire our future generation. A word of gratitude goes to the Buki di Pret Foundation for their continuous dedication to the well-being and development of Aruba’s children, giving them the opportunity to learn more and create unforgettable experiences while ensuring that every child enjoys their vacation.

Special thanks to Carnival Cruise Line for opening their doors once again to Buki di Pret and offering this unique opportunity to the children. A.T.A. and APA N.V. also thank Pelican Adventures for transporting the children and all other partners who contributed to the activity’s success.
