On Tuesday, October 21, the Movimiento Electoral di Pueblo (MEP) faction submitted the advisory report by Prof. Mr. D.J. Elzinga on the Kingdom Consensus Law (HOFA) to the Secretariat of the Council of Ministers. The report, divided into two parts, addresses both the concept of the Kingdom Consensus Law and the financial supervision of Aruba.
The MEP faction requested that the report be shared with all ministers to ensure that every member of the AVP–Futuro cabinet is fully informed about its contents and implications.
During the handover, the MEP emphasized that, in the interest of Aruba and its sustainable development, it is essential for the nation to act as one — united in defending its national interests and socio-economic future.
Prof. Elzinga’s report confirms that the current system of financial supervision is functioning properly and that a Kingdom Consensus Law for Aruba is unnecessary.
The MEP faction expressed regret that the draft of the Kingdom Consensus Law was submitted to the Kingdom Council of Ministers without prior consultation and approval from the Parliament of Aruba — a body that must be respected and given the opportunity to voice its position throughout the process.
The MEP also expressed concern over the lack of transparency from the government, which has left both Parliament and the Aruban public insufficiently informed about the content and potential consequences of the proposal.
The MEP faction reaffirmed its openness to dialogue and its willingness to provide further clarification or additional information on this important matter.
