The Government of Aruba continues to invest in strengthening the infrastructure of Justice with the progress of the first phase of renovation of the Politie Opleidinginstituut Edgar Joaquin (Watty) Vos. The institute plays a fundamental role in the training of Aruba’s future police officers.
The Minister of Justice, Arthur Dowers, indicated that the first phase of the project is almost complete, allowing the various training activities to continue in a more modern and functional environment. The renovation is part of a broader plan that will be executed in different phases, including a future expansion of the facilities.
According to Minister Dowers, the condition of the building reflects a long period during which various Justice facilities did not receive the necessary maintenance and investment. He emphasized that the challenge is not limited solely to the Politie Opleidinginstituut Edgar Joaquin (Watty) Vos, but is a reality that the Government is facing in different buildings under the Ministry of Justice.
“Our goal is not only to renovate a building, but to create a dignified and functional environment for the professionals who daily prepare to serve and protect our community,” Minister Dowers indicated.
The minister highlighted that, just as important as the renovation, is implementing a continuous maintenance plan. According to Dowers, only with good management and preventive maintenance is it possible to preserve public investments and prevent buildings from deteriorating again with the passage of time.
The renovation of the Politie Opleidinginstituut Edgar Joaquin (Watty) Vos represents an investment in the future of our police force, strengthening the infrastructure necessary to train police officers who will continue to guarantee security and quality service for Aruba.
