The Patriotic Party of Aruba (PPA) is preparing to open a new chapter in Aruba with the reconstruction of its Patriotic Center in San Nicolas, a building that for many years has been part of the political and social history of the district. During a visit to the site, PPA parliamentary faction leader Eduard Pieters, together with party board member Michael Bernabela, confirmed that the project has entered its final preparation phase and that reconstruction work will begin soon. According to Pieters, the building is not just a party local; it is a historical symbol that PPA wants to give back to the San Nicolas community.
“It will become an important center for this district, a place where the people can meet, get information, and participate in the development of our country.”
According to the MP, the renovation is part of a broader vision to strengthen PPA’s presence in San Nicolas and create a space where the community can gather for various activities, dialogues, and meetings. Pieters said that in recent days they have dedicated time to the final details of the project, including meetings with the contractor who will lead the reconstruction.
“We are in the final phase of preparation and design, so we can begin the next work as soon as possible,” Eduard expressed.
Enthusiasm for the project
Michael Bernabela, as a board member, also expressed his enthusiasm for the progress the project is showing. According to Bernabela, the Patriotic Center has special value, not only for PPA sympathizers, but for many residents of Aruba, and particularly of San Nicolas, who remember the building as a historical meeting point. “It is a place with a lot of history. Everyone is welcome here. It is not just for San Nicolas, but for all of Aruba.”
PPA sees the reconstruction as an investment in the district’s future. According to the leaders, the center will serve for political meetings, informational activities, citizen encounters, and other initiatives that contribute to civic participation.
A central and multifunctional space
As the work progresses, the party will also organize different fundraising activities to help cover the remaining operating and maintenance costs of the building.
According to Pieters, the goal is not just to restore a building, but to create an active space that will continue to serve the community for many years. “We want the Patriotic Center to be a place where people can gather, share ideas, and continue working together for a stronger Aruba.”
With this project, PPA reaffirms its commitment to Aruba and its intention to maintain a permanent presence in the construction of a nation, strengthening community participation and its relationship with the people. As the reconstruction is in preparation, the expectation is that the historic building will soon open its doors, marking a new chapter as one of the places that, for many PPA sympathizers, is part of the history of the party and the San Nicolas community.
