On Tuesday morning, Prime Minister Mike Eman, who is responsible for the National Reforestation Plan, conducted a working visit to Santa Rosa. He was received by Ms. Nathalie Maduro, Director of Santa Rosa, along with her team, who provided an extensive tour showcasing the different areas and ongoing projects.
During the visit, members of the Santa Rosa team offered a detailed explanation of the agricultural processes and the challenges of achieving successful harvests in Aruba’s warm climate.
Santa Rosa is the governmental entity responsible for agriculture and livestock on Aruba. The institution provides technical advice and support to farmers and offers breeding services for various types of livestock, including goats, sheep, pigs, cattle, and more. Santa Rosa also plays an educational role, assisting livestock owners in improving the care and productivity of their animals.
In its efforts to promote sustainability and innovation, Santa Rosa applies various methods for cultivating fruits and vegetables and maintains its own nursery where multiple plant species are grown.
At the end of the visit, Nathalie Maduro presented Prime Minister Mike Eman with two lemon trees—one locally grown and the other from Colombia—as a symbol of cooperation and knowledge exchange.
