On Sunday afternoon, a tragic traffic accident on Grapefield Road claimed the life of a 23-year-old woman. With this tragic event, the number of traffic fatalities in Aruba for this year has reached ten (10).

Around 2:58 PM, the Police Central Dispatch received a call informing them of a severe accident on Grapefield Road in San Nicolas, where a UTV-type vehicle had overturned and one of the occupants was critically injured.

Both police patrols and ambulance personnel were urgently dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, officers confirmed that the UTV, for reasons still under investigation, lost control and flipped over.

Ambulance personnel immediately administered medical care to the driver, but unfortunately, due to the severity of her injuries, the victim was unresponsive, and nothing more could be done for her.

A forensic doctor who arrived at the scene officially pronounced the death of Kimberly van Ardenne, born in the Netherlands on November 1, 2002 (23 years of age).

Forensic police along with traffic specialists arrived at the crash site to conduct the corresponding investigations to clarify how the accident occurred. Victim Support (Slachtofferhulp) personnel were also activated to offer emotional guidance during this difficult time.

The Aruba Police Force expressed its deepest condolences and strength to the family and loved ones of the deceased.
