Strength for the Family: Come out of the darkness and step into the light of Christ Jesus

For He has rescued us from the power of darkness and brought us into the Kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. (Colossians 1:13)

Why do people love darkness so much? Why is the kingdom of darkness celebrated? Why do we allow our children to take part in darkness when we know well that darkness harms them—and leaves us later with pain and regret?

God forbids us from engaging with darkness, for there is no blessing or spiritual growth when we participate in the works of darkness.

No matter how beautifully it is presented, it remains darkness—with no benefit or goodness in it.

Day by day, darkness increases in the world and brings with it all forms of immorality, corruption, and disrespect toward God and others.

It disguises itself in the form of games or entertainment, so that people say, “It’s just fun,” but in truth, it is the devil’s game.

In no celebration where the Holy Spirit of God is present will people ever engage with darkness, nor wear disguises or masks, because God is light, and in Him, there is no darkness at all.

In the past, witchcraft was practiced secretly in hidden places, but today it is openly displayed — in theaters, meeting halls, and even allowed into our homes — without awareness of the dark power behind it.

“For You light my lamp; the Lord my God illuminates my darkness.” (Psalm 18:28)
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” (Psalm 119:105)
If we claim to have fellowship with Him but walk in darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, cleanses us from all sin. (1 John 1:5–7)

Jesus said:
“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12)

“I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in Me should stay in darkness.” (John 12:46)

“For You have delivered my soul from death and kept my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before God in the light of life.” (Psalm 56:13)

We are not called to walk in darkness, nor to mix ourselves with it. The Word of God clearly shows that we must abstain from all works of darkness and persevere in walking in the light of the Lord.

“Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.” (Ephesians 5:11)

Do not open doors for the devil to enter your home. Stay away from idolatry, from unknown spiritual practices, from occultism, and from all works of darkness.

We are living in difficult times, but our focus must remain on our Lord and Savior, so that we avoid distractions. Many things are coming into this world to make people stumble. We must stand firm and faithful in our Lord.

“Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in them.” (1 John 2:15)
