In an exclusive interview, multi-talented artist Bryan Maria, better known in the music world as ‘Black Joker’, shared his journey from his beginnings in the Caribbean to his current success in the Netherlands. With a career that began to resonate strongly in Aruba in the late 1990s, Maria is now in a stage of constant innovation, setting the pace with his personal challenge of releasing a new song every month throughout the year 2026.

Bryan Maria, born in Curaçao but raised in Bonaire, moved to the Netherlands in 1999 with a clear goal: to progress in his musical talent. During his first years in Europe, he collaborated with the group Caliber, which opened doors for his development as a producer. Today, Maria not only performs, but he also has his own recording studio and holds a professional certification as a music producer.

Aruba: The Foundation of His Success

Reflecting on his beginnings, the artist recalled that Aruba was the place where his first “light” turned on. Between 1997 and 1998, his song “Biba Laga Mi Biba (Mal Fama Tambe ta Fama)” became a national hit, resonating on all radio stations and at major performances in the Holiday Inn Ballroom alongside groups like Basic One and BMW. This success served as the fundamental impulse for his international career.

The 2026 Challenge and the Viral Phenomenon

Currently, Bryan Maria is working at an intensive pace. For this year, he has set a challenge for himself to launch a new song every month on digital platforms such as Spotify and iTunes. Among his most recent releases are “Hale Pa Mi”, “Vum Vum Original”, “Pelicula”, and his latest release in the month of May titled “Badam”.

One of his biggest surprises was the reception of a Bachata in Papiamento, a project that was born as a joke on TikTok. “It was a thrill, I just recorded it for fun on TikTok and it went viral,” he said. The demand was so high that radio stations in Curaçao, such as Radio Mas, requested the full version, which became a resounding success across the entire region.

Message for the Youth

Closing the interview, the artist sent a message of hope and determination to the new generation. “Live positively and you will achieve positive things in your life,” Bryan Maria ‘Black Joker’ declared, emphasizing that this attitude is the key to any personal and professional success.

With a musical catalog that continues to grow and a clear vision of the modern industry, Bryan Maria demonstrates that the connection between the islands and the Netherlands is more alive than ever through music.
