Tourism Corporation Bonaire (TCB) has shared preliminary tourism data for May 2026, revealing that Bonaire received 15,201 stayover visitors. This represents an increase of 1.6% compared to May 2025, when 14,962 visitors arrived.
Visitors from the Netherlands formed the largest group, accounting for 43.3% of total arrivals, with 6,584 visitors. US visitors were the second-largest group, accounting for 26.1% of arrivals and 3,966 visitors.
A total of 2,190 (14.4%) visitors from Curaçao visited the island, followed by Germany with 307 (2%) visitors, Aruba with 280 (1.8%) visitors, Belgium with 201 (1.3%) visitors, Brazil with 183 (1.2%) visitors, Colombia with 175 (1.2%) visitors, Switzerland with 150 (1%) visitors, Canada with 147 (1%) visitors, and UK with 96 (0.6%) visitors.
US visitors mainly traveled with a partner, followed by alone. Most came for vacation (48%), diving (42%), and visiting friends and family (2.2%). The majority stayed at a hotel (54%), a villa (15.6%), an apartment (6.8%), their own property (6.2%), or with a relative (3.9%). US visitors primarily came from Florida, Texas, California, New York, and North Carolina. The age distribution showed that travelers aged 55-64 accounted for 24.1%, while those aged 65+ accounted for 19.6%.
Dutch visitors were mainly traveling with a partner, followed by solo travelers. Most visitors came for vacation (70.3%), visited friends and family (10.5%), and for business (6.5%). Most visitors stayed at a hotel (51.4%), followed by an apartment (14.5%), at a relative’s (10.1%), a villa (6.5%), and their own property (4.7%). Most Dutch visitors came from South Holland, North Holland, North Brabant, Gelderland, and Utrecht, with the 55-64 age group (23.5%) and 25-34 age group (20.1%) being the largest segments.
