As part of a strategic agreement with Colegio EPI: An investment in our talent
The Aruba Tourism Authority (A.T.A.) continues its commitment to strengthening Aruba’s culinary sector through the Culinary Education Plan, an educational roadmap developed in collaboration with local schools such as Stichting EPB and Colegio EPI. The plan focuses on inspiring young talent, helping develop the local workforce, and simultaneously contributing to the sustainability and quality of Aruba’s culinary industry—a vital pillar of Aruba’s tourism product.
Culinary tourism plays an essential role in how Aruba is experienced as a destination. The culture, diversity, and creativity of our local cuisine form an integral part of how Aruba presents its identity to the world. For this reason, A.T.A. invests in culinary education, not only to support the professional development of students but also to ensure a strong and innovative future for the hospitality and tourism sector. The Culinary Education Plan includes various initiatives that connect education with real industry experience, providing students with the practical skills needed to prepare them for a successful career.
On Sunday, May 10, the international culinary journey began. The A.T.A. team, alongside instructors and five students who excelled during their time at Colegio EPI within the Hospitality and Tourism unit—specializing in the Horeca (Hotel, Restaurant, and Café) sector—departed for Lima, Peru. The students participating in this international experience are Dylan Alvarez, Giovanni Oduber, Kaemon Winter, Taylisha Leest, and Isabelle Baluyot. During the trip, students will have the opportunity to explore Peru’s traditional cuisine, learn advanced culinary techniques, and visit a culinary educational institution to broaden their understanding of Peru’s gastronomic education system. This will allow them to immerse themselves in and draw inspiration from the culinary culture and international influences that form Peru’s unique gastronomic identity.
During the group’s departure at the Queen Beatrix International Airport, the CEO of A.T.A., Ronella Croes, expressed her support for the initiative, stating: “For A.T.A., initiatives like this international culinary trip are essential. We are investing in local youth and talent, who represent the next generation of professionals that will shape the future of Aruba’s tourism. The knowledge and inspiration these students will bring back to Aruba contribute to the continuous growth of our culinary sector, as well as the well-being of our community.”
The purpose of this trip is to broaden their professional perspectives, inspire them to excel in their trade, and allow them to learn directly from an international culinary environment through practical and immersive experiences. We wish them all much success on their educational journey.
