Aruba Airport Authority N.V. (AAA) proudly organized different activities to continue promoting and contributing to United Nations’ (UN) Global Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) during Action Week 2025.
This year, AAA’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Action Week 2025 took place from September 22 – September 25, 2025, and was based on this year’s theme Partnerships for Accelerating Sustainable Development and Climate Solutions, with a special focus on the Airport’s new Environmental Management System (EMS) and introduction to Sustainable Waste Management at AUA Airport.
AUA Airport’s new Environmental Policy and Environmental Management System encompasses 6 pillars and highlights its commitment to continuously reducing its environmental impacts, lowering pollution and waste, protecting the environment and improving our environmental efficiency in and around the airport. As Waste Management is one of the focus areas for the airport, multiple awareness, and training sessions were held for AAA’s employees as well as the entire Airport community for the upcoming introduction of waste separation bins throughout the airport terminal. Additional sessions were also held by UNESCO School Aruba – Prinses Amalia Basisschool highlighting their efforts in recycling waste, educating their students to also give back to the community. Living Soil Aruba highlighted the importance of Syntropic Agriculture, a method used to grow food, restore ecosystems, and help communities reconnect with nature. AAA employees were also able to volunteer with Living Soil at two schools in the morning hours giving back to the community.
AAA will continue to promote and contribute to UN’s SDGs through purposeful projects and activities that benefit the local and airport community. This year’s SDG Week highlighted the airport’s commitment towards reducing our environmental impact and to engage, encourage, and promote sustainable practices through collaboration with its key stakeholders, third parties, and the entire airport community.
