Council of Advice puts an end to the way AVP FUTURO organized the ministries in the LIM Law

A political power structure has been created that lacks logic and places Aruba at risk.
After many months, the AVP FUTURO government has finally worked on the amendment of the National Ordinance Establishing Ministries (LIM). A few days ago, Parliament received the updated LIM law along with the advisory report from the Council of Advice.
In short, the Council of Advice strongly criticized the way AVP FUTURO structured the ministries in the LIM law. According to the advisory body, the organization of the ministries lacks logic and places Aruba in a vulnerable and dangerous position.
The Ministry of KOJIS is the most illogical of all
According to the Council of Advice, the ministry with the least logical combination of portfolios is the Ministry of Kingdom Relations, Education, Youth, Innovation and Sports under Minister Gerlien Croes (KOJIS).
Five portfolios in one hand is a recipe for failure
Assigning five ministries to one minister is, according to the Council of Advice, an experiment with the future of the People that is destined to fail.
The portfolios are unrelated, and each one on its own requires significant attention from the minister and her team. By combining them, focus is lost, and the work ends up being done only halfway, harming the People.
Aruba is weakened within the Kingdom of the Netherlands
The Council of Advice explains that Kingdom Relations is a sensitive and strategic portfolio. By combining it with Education, Youth, Innovation and Sports, Aruba’s position within the Kingdom of the Netherlands is weakened.
Traditionally, Kingdom Relations has been handled by the Prime Minister, who represents the cabinet. But under the AVP FUTURO government clearly to satisfy minister Gerlien Croes the portfolio is now merged with four others, reducing the necessary attention and diplomacy needed to defend Aruba’s interests.
A concentration of political power without logic and with risks
Member of Parliament Xiomara Maduro regrets that AVP FUTURO is playing political games with serious matters. The organization of the ministries in the AVP FUTURO cabinet must be structured efficiently to serve the interests of the People.
What exists now especially regarding the KOJIS ministry of Minister Gerlien Croes — creates a concentration of political power that makes no sense and places Aruba’s well-being at risk.
Maduro hopes that AVP FUTURO’s parliamentarians also realize that such political power structures are irresponsible and harmful to the People, and that they cannot allow Minister Gerlien Croes to continue acting without restraint.
