The Aruba Police Force re-emphasizes the importance of voluntarily surrendering firearms.
On Sunday, March 29, 2026, Police made an arrest related to firearm possession. During a vehicle search, officers found a bag containing a pistol and ammunition. This highlights once more the danger that illegal firearms represent in our community.
The suspect, an Aruban-born man identified as T.S.C., was immediately detained for violating the Firearms Ordinance. The Police and the Public Prosecutor’s Office acted swiftly; on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, T.S.C. was brought before the Court in a “fast-track” hearing (snelrecht). The Judge sentenced him to 18 months in prison, with 6 months suspended. Additionally, the Judge placed him under the supervision of the Probation Service (Reclassering).
The Police and the Public Prosecutor want to emphasize that the surrender campaign for illegal firearms is still ongoing. The goal is to give everyone the chance to get rid of illegal weapons without facing criminal prosecution for possession.
Reminder: You can surrender illegal firearms until April 24, 2026, by depositing them in the blue bin in San Nicolas; you will remain completely anonymous. Authorities send a clear warning that inspections will continue to intensify in all neighborhoods. Take this opportunity now: don’t wait until it’s too late. Hand it in, or we will come get it!
