Recently, the MEP faction attended the presentation of the CORVI report. The National Climate Resilience Committee (NCRC) is currently developing a national plan for climate change adaptation — the National Adaptation Strategy.
To achieve this, the committee conducted a comprehensive study on the risks and impacts of climate change in Aruba.
“This morning, they presented the ‘Climate & Ocean Risk & Vulnerability Index (CORVI)’ report, prepared in collaboration with the Stimson Center. Earlier, in May, they launched the ‘Climate Impact Atlas’ of Aruba, available at www.aruba.climateimpactatlas.com. The website contains detailed information, data, statistics, and digital climate maps for Aruba, as well as several inspiring stories about how communities can adapt to climate change.”
This project was an initiative of former minister Ursell Arends, with the support of the Wever-Croes II Cabinet, and has now become a reality. Based on this report, a plan will be developed to help Aruba prepare for the effects of climate change.
“I am very proud of this work! This is how we can ensure that our beloved island remains for future generations,” said Evelyn Wever-Croes.
