Santa Rosa : Our colleague Cornelio Dirksz now ready to enjoy his retirement

On Monday morning, just as a new week and new moon were beginning, the Department of Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries (Santa Rosa) said goodbye to another colleague and friend. His name is Cornelio “Esy” Dirksz, who has been part of our department since 1999. Mr. Dirksz started as a contract worker and later entered into official government service in Aruba. In other words, he dedicated 27 years of government service here at Santa Rosa.

That’s why everyone calls him “Esy,” his nickname. He always worked in the agriculture/horticulture section. There were two celebrations in one day because it also happened to be his birthday, which we also congratulated him on. He is someone who was always kind and a person you never saw angry. He always had a smile and was always ready to help every client who came to Santa Rosa. He was always dedicated to his work every day and always very conscientious. That’s how he spent his years here at Santa Rosa, until today — when the moment came for him to go and enjoy a well‑deserved retirement.

Today, Monday morning, a very nice and special moment was prepared to celebrate him. Decorations were put up to congratulate and thank him for the years of work he has given here at Santa Rosa. The Director of Santa Rosa, Mrs. Nathalie Maduro, spoke at the occasion and briefly went over the wonderful experiences with our colleague “Esy.” Naturally, a beautiful gift was prepared with his name and the date engraved on it so he could take it as a memory. After that, a small celebration took place with snacks and treats among colleagues.

On behalf of the staff and personnel of our department, we thank Cornelio “Esy” Dirksz for his efforts over so many years, and we truly wish him a happy and well‑deserved retirement.
