Last week, colleagues from the pediatric department gathered after receiving a call from their manager, announcing an important and personal message from the Board of Directors. After making a small joke, Board member Gregory Croeze revealed that among them was the Employee of the Month for October. It was a big surprise for Leticia Gonzalez, pediatric nurse, when all her colleagues held up a sign with her photo on it and shouted ‘surprise!’ And the moment became even more emotional when she saw that her family was also present — virtually, from Spain. A beautiful and unforgettable surprise and recognition that she will cherish forever.
Colleagues submitted their nominations for various reasons. Among them: she is an excellent team player who is always open and proactive in helping others. She works together with her team to find solutions and remains respectful in her communication with colleagues, patients, their families, and doctors. She is caring, understanding toward her patients, and always gives her best to make them feel at home and safe.
Leticia handles stress well and excels in coordinating and planning the department’s work. She considers it important to keep developing herself, so she didn’t stop there: this year she even completed her specialist training to become a pediatric nurse. An impressive achievement, especially considering that Dutch is not her native language. She moved from Spain to Aruba in 2013 and has since completed various courses and trainings to reach her current position. An outstanding demonstration of her perseverance to achieve her goals, integrate into Aruba, and provide the best possible care to our patients.
Leticia consistently lives up to the hospital’s mission and vision and continually seeks new opportunities to grow. She is creative, flexible, and adapts easily to change. She loves her work and inspires others with her dedication to providing the best care possible. All of us at HOH are very happy and proud to have Leticia as part of the HOH team. Congratulations, Leticia!
