Over the past week, the Aruba Police Force has conducted several traffic controls. During these operations, a total of 110 fines were issued.
From Tuesday afternoon until Wednesday night, officers from the Oranjestad District, in cooperation with the Traffic Department (DTP), carried out an extensive traffic control. A total of 297 vehicles were inspected, including cars and scooters. The operation was both preventive and repressive in nature.
Several violations were recorded, including:
driving without valid road tax,
without valid insurance,
without a valid inspection card,
failure to wear a seatbelt,
and various other traffic offenses.
With support from the Motor Unit, police were able to conduct controls at multiple strategic points in Oranjestad. The Aruba Police Force emphasizes that these operations will continue without interruption at various times and locations across different districts.
The police convey a clear message to all motorists:
Avoid receiving a fine, especially under the “Paga bo boet” system, which requires immediate issuance and prompt payment. Ensure all your documents are in order and drive responsibly.
Together, we can contribute to safer roads.
Unfortunately, Aruba begins the morning with tragic news: the eighth traffic fatality of the year.
On Friday at 9:15 a.m., the Police Central Dispatch received a report of a serious accident on the main road near the roundabout in Pos Chiquito, heading Oranjestad. The accident involved a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle.
Police patrols, ambulance personnel, traffic investigators, and Victim Support were dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, officers found a man who showed no signs of life. Despite the medical assistance provided by the ambulance team, nothing further could be done.
At 10:30 a.m., forensic physician Dr. Scholten confirmed the death of Raimundo Alfonso Koolman (born 23 January 1959 in Aruba, 66 years old).
The Aruba Police Force extends its sincere condolences to the family of the deceased.
