On Monday, November 10th, a press conference took place at the headquarters of the Fundacion Contra Violencia Relacional (FCVR), in collaboration with Soroptimist Aruba, CEDEHM, DAS, the University of Aruba, and Fundacion Respeta Mi. During this event, the international campaign “Orange the World & 16 Days of Activism” was presented, along with the local awareness campaign that will officially begin in Aruba on November 25th.

The Orange the World campaign is part of a global movement dedicated to preventing and combating gender-based violence. For sixteen days — from November 25th (International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women) to December 10th (Human Rights Day) — communities around the world take action to promote reflection, education, and engagement.
The color orange serves as a symbol of hope and light: a call to protect human dignity and human rights.

For Aruba and the participating organizations, the campaign holds special meaning. Domestic and relationship violence remain social challenges that are often hidden due to shame or silence. By working together, the organizations aim to open dialogue, foster a culture of mutual respect, and reaffirm that everyone deserves safety and dignity.
The campaign emphasizes prevention: recognizing warning signs, seeking information, and offering support are essential steps toward achieving real change within the community.

During the press conference, a calendar of events was presented, listing all the activities the organizations will organize during the 16 Days of Activism. The program is broad and inclusive, featuring:
informative presentations, a digital violence awareness campaign on social media, workshops and dialogue sessions, seminars and conferences, a film screening with a panel discussion, media training, and various other engaging events at different venues.

Through these efforts, the organizations aim not only to raise awareness but also to strengthen community connections.
The ultimate goal is for more people to know where to find help, how to recognize violence, and how to work together toward a safer, fairer, and more humane Aruba.

More information about the calendar and events will be shared through traditional media, social networks, and the various platforms of the partner organizations.

Together we color Aruba orange. Together we choose safety, dignity, and equality.
