Maryla Solognier, Vice President of Fundacion Epilepsia Aruba, announced that this coming Saturday, October 25, 2025, one of two planned community gatherings will take place.
The goal of these events is to raise awareness and provide accurate information about what epilepsy is and how it can be managed.
This time, the social gathering will be held at the San Martin Center in Santa Cruz, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.
The event is especially important for people living with epilepsy and their families, offering an opportunity to learn more about the condition and stay informed about the latest medical developments.
During the session, Dr. Emile Keuter, a nephrologist, will be present to give a talk on the responsible and conscious use of medication.
Epilepsy can be treated in various ways, but the most common treatment involves medication — either in the form of pills or drops.
However, there are serious consequences if medication is not taken on time or skipped altogether.
Dr. Keuter will provide detailed guidance on how patients can manage their treatment more safely and effectively.
Although there are no recent official statistics on the number of people with epilepsy in Aruba, a study conducted by the Neuroclinic between 2013 and 2016 found that there were approximately 238 individuals with epilepsy at that time. Considering the years that have passed, it is believed that this number has since increased significantly.
The invitation is open to the entire Aruban community, especially to those living with epilepsy and their families.
Everyone is welcome to attend this free, informative, and community-oriented event organized by Fundacion Epilepsia Aruba, to learn more about how to live with and manage epilepsy.
