For many years, Drs. Anco Ringeling was one of the pioneers and leading figures of AZV. He played an instrumental role in the conception, preparation, and introduction of Aruba’s AZV health insurance system. In recognition of this pivotal contribution, the Government of Aruba and the Executive Body of AZV honored Mr. Ringeling.
Career Path
The recognition took place during the unveiling event of the AZV logo in connection with the 25th anniversary since the introduction of AZV. During the evening, special attention was given to the significant and impactful work carried out by Drs. Anco Ringeling.
From the moment the AZV concept was first developed in 1988, Mr. Ringeling was part of the project. He participated in the formulation process of the legislation that was approved by Parliament in 1992 and was deeply familiar with every article and the motivations behind them. Subsequently, Mr. Ringeling dedicated himself to guiding the most challenging phase of the trajectory toward the introduction of AZV, which involved calculating insurance premiums and, at the same time, organizing the administrative structure required for the system.
As a result, Mr. Ringeling became the first Director of the AZV Executive Body in 1994. Between 1998 and 2000, he once again played an instrumental role in the process leading to the definitive public introduction of AZV on January 1, 2001.
Remarks by Mr. Ringeling
During the event, Mr. Ringeling emphasized the leadership of former Prime Minister Henny Eman in the introduction of AZV. He shared that Prime Minister Henny Eman held biweekly meetings with the team responsible for the implementation to monitor progress and ensure the project remained on track. Mr. Ringeling also reflected on the fond memories he shared with the AZV team, noting that he still keeps in touch with several former colleagues to this day.
Words of Appreciation
Prime Minister Mike Eman highlighted that Mr. Ringeling was the right-hand man of former Prime Minister Henny Eman, underscoring the importance of his role in the introduction of AZV. He stated that, as AZV marks its 25th anniversary, this moment is fitting to recognize the vision, determination, and perseverance of Drs. Anco Ringeling in the realization of Aruba’s health insurance system. On behalf of the Government of Aruba, Prime Minister Eman and Minister Wyatt-Ras presented Mr. Ringeling with a commemorative plaque in recognition of his contributions.
