The Aruba Tourism Authority (A.T.A.) officially premiered the short film “Mi Rason” on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, during an event that celebrated Aruba’s culture and identity. Both the film and its soundtrack were launched in the presence of the Minister of Tourism, Transport and Labor, Wendrick Cicilia, the CEO of A.T.A., Ronella Croes, members of the A.T.A. team, members of the supervisory board, as well as the actors from the film, the director, and local artists who contributed to the production.

The premiere took place at Gasparito Aruban Estate, a historic and cultural venue that provided the perfect setting to celebrate a project honoring Aruba’s identity. During the event, artists Rodrick “Rocco” Franken and Freddy Rasta performed the song “Mi Rason” live, creating an emotional and special moment for the evening. The performance connected guests directly with the message and sentiment of the film and its soundtrack.

A tribute to Aruba

Mi Rason is a short film accompanied by a soundtrack with the same name. It tells the story of a young Aruban man who grows up and pursues his dreams in Aruba. The film explores themes such as education, norms and values, culture, and tourism. It also includes conversations with local historians and authors who share the history and values they carry to this day.

The production was guided by Derchlien Dijkhoff, Senior Product Specialist at the Aruba Tourism Authority. The main actor is Rodrick “Rocco” Franken together with his son Zevi Franken. The film also features local talents such as Gregory Richardson, Rosabelle Illis, Desiree Correa, and Lurena Schwengle. Their contributions give the film an authentic voice and a deep cultural perspective.

The main purpose of Mi Rason is to strengthen national pride and inspire the community to reflect on what motivates people to care for and value the island of Aruba. The film and song serve as a tribute to Aruba, celebrating the island’s past while reflecting on its future.

The Aruba Tourism Authority chose to premiere Mi Rason during the celebration period of 40 years of Status Aparte of Aruba and 50 years of the Aruba National Anthem and Flag, two important milestones in Aruba’s history.

During the evening, A.T.A. CEO Ronella Croes delivered a speech in which she stated:

“Mi Rason is a tribute; a warm embrace of our past, a reflection of who we are today, and a compass guiding the future we are building.”

Her words reaffirm the purpose of the film: encouraging the community to reconnect with their roots and inviting everyone to reflect on their own reason for loving, protecting, and valuing the island.

Mi Rason is available to watch on TeleAruba every Wednesday and Friday during the month of March, starting Friday, March 13 at 7:00 PM. The film and song are also available on the official YouTube channel of the Aruba Tourism Authority.
