Today, the Supreme Court in the Netherlands reached a decision regarding the appeals of Benny Sevinger, Leoncita Arends, and Pieter Susebeek against their convictions by the High Court. It is understood that the Supreme Court rejected the appeals and upheld the sentences.
BENNY SEVINGER The Supreme Court ruled that Benny Sevinger’s appeal against his High Court conviction is rejected. The Supreme Court stated that the High Court’s punishment for Sevinger stands. This means Benny Sevinger remains sentenced to 4 years in prison, of which 1 year is suspended. Additionally, Sevinger is prohibited for 6 years from holding government employment and from running as a candidate for representative bodies. The Supreme Court finds Sevinger guilty of complicity in defrauding the government, bribery, and embezzlement.
LEONCITA ARENDS The Supreme Court rejected Maria Leoncita Arends’ appeal and confirmed the sentence of the High Court. Maria Leoncita Arends is sentenced to 2 years in prison, of which 1 year is suspended with a 3-year probation period.
PIETER SUSEBEEK The Supreme Court rejected Pieter Susebeek’s appeal and confirmed the sentence of the High Court. Pieter Susebeek is sentenced to 30 months in prison, of which 10 months are suspended with a 2-year probation period. The 1.3 million dollars will remain confiscated.
