Member of Parliament Evelyn Wever-Croes stated during an informational meeting about the Kingdom Law HOFA that, when it comes to your country, you must set aside all political banners, stand strong, and defend your nation. Regarding the Kingdom Law HOFA, this is the moment to stand united – not the time to point fingers at who signed or did not sign.
At that same time, the MEP faction leader, who was the former Prime Minister of Aruba, had negotiated most parts and safeguarded Aruba’s interests. In the final phase of the negotiations, a non-binding Administrative Agreement was signed that did not tie Aruba to anything. What the new government should have done was to return to the table and negotiate a better deal – but unfortunately, that did not happen.
The reality is that August 13, 2025, is a dark day for Aruba. On that day, the governments of the Netherlands and Aruba, during a high-level governmental meeting, reached an agreement on the text of the Kingdom Law HOFA. The Parliament of Aruba saw the document for the first time on August 29, 2025. The context of the Kingdom Law HOFA was determined under the AVP–FUTURO government – a law that is not good for Aruba.
