“Our rule of law, our democracy, and our freedom are the foundations of our society.”
With these words, King Willem-Alexander delivered a strong message during a state banquet at the Royal Palace in Amsterdam. In his speech, the monarch emphasized that these are values that must be constantly nurtured, protected, and defended.

King Willem-Alexander highlighted the geopolitical and historical reality of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, pointing out that the particular situation of each territory provides a unique perspective on the risks democracy and freedom may face. “You know better than anyone else what the risk is. Let me be very clear: you are not alone,” he said. “You will find us by your side, together with our partners in the European Union and in NATO.”

The state banquet took place at the Royal Palace in Amsterdam, attended by the Royal Couple, political leaders, and honored guests. During the event, both the King and the President gave speeches, and the Princess of Orange also honored the occasion with her presence.
