Minister Geoffrey Wever prioritizes investing in the community over paying off the debt owed to the Netherlands

Minister Geoffrey Wever Su Prioridad Ta Pa Inverti Den Comunidad Sin Paga E Debe Cu Hulanda

Minister of Finance Geoffrey Wever disagreed with the notion that Aruba’s debt repayment should be a priority.

Instead, he believes that the funds meant for debt payments should be invested in the local community. According to him, Aruba must have the freedom to decide how to use its financial resources without pressure from the Netherlands to prioritize debt repayment.

Minister Wever stated that the Kingdom Law HOFA would make these funds freely available for the government to spend as it wishes, rather than ensuring responsible repayment of the national debt.
