First of all, we express our full confidence in and support for the work that Minister Charles Cooper is carrying out in the interest of the people and the community of Curaçao. We cannot deny that Minister Cooper inherited a highly complex situation at Domeinbeheer (Domain Management), which for many years was neither addressed nor properly resolved by previous governments.
The problems that are now coming to light did not arise overnight. The massive backlog in processing applications, the lack of administrative updates, and various organizational deficiencies are the consequence of problems that have been accumulating over many years.
However, the current government is neither hiding from nor running away from these challenges. On the contrary, serious, responsible, and structural work is being carried out at this moment to modernize processes, bring more order to the administration, improve control mechanisms, and guarantee that the system can function in a fairer, more efficient, and transparent manner for all citizens.
We understand the frustration of many people who are waiting for a solution or for an answer to their applications. However, it is important for the public to understand that structural issues of this magnitude cannot be resolved overnight. Serious reforms, responsible management, and sustainable planning inevitably take time.
Therefore, we call upon all sectors concerned to contribute with constructive proposals, collaboration, and support, instead of fueling more distrust and tension within the community. The people of Curaçao need hope, stability, and leadership focused on real and lasting solutions for the benefit of our people.
