Last Thursday, a special celebration was held at the Kapel di Bethania, marking the fifth anniversary of the Kapel di Bethania Foundation (FKB) — a foundation dedicated to preserving and caring for this historic chapel located at the Imedahof Convent in Noord.

The event began at 6:00 PM with the recitation of the rosary, followed by a thanksgiving mass at 6:30 PM, celebrated by Rev. Father Morison together with Rev. Deacon Theo.
During the Holy Mass, Igmar Maduro and Tica Giel offered beautiful hymns that enriched the atmosphere of devotion and gratitude.
The evening was not only a commemoration of a date, but also a tribute to the spiritual and human efforts that have given life to the chapel throughout the years.

A gesture of great appreciation was the presence of prominent figures from the community, including the President of Parliament and the Prime Minister accompanied by her distinguished husband. Their attendance sent a clear message of unity and respect for the spiritual and cultural mission represented by the Kapel di Bethania.

A touching moment came with the reading of a letter from the current FKB president, Steve Geerman.
With emotion, he shared how in 2020, a group of residents from Noord opened the chapel’s doors and discovered a historical and spiritual treasure “hidden in the very heart of Noord.”
What began as a temporary exhibition soon became a heartfelt mission to protect the religious heritage of the Aruban people.
In his message, he invited everyone to reflect on five years of dedication, faith, hope, vision, and love devoted to the Kapel di Bethania and its continued preservation.

After the Mass, the AHM youth group, under the guidance of Sidney Tromp, animated the evening and invited everyone to join in a celebratory toast.

With God’s blessing, the first steps toward the chapel’s restoration will begin soon, with plans for an official reopening in 2026.
The foundation remains deeply grateful for the trust and support of the community and calls upon everyone to continue contributing to its mission:
to preserve the spiritual and historical beauty of the Kapel di Bethania.
