The Coast Guard immediately directed some of its Metal Shark units toward the suspicious contact. The contact was identified as a boat transporting packages of drugs on board. The Coast Guard initiated a pursuit, and during the chase, fired warning shots into the air to force the boat’s captain to stop. The patrol boats intercepted the suspicious vessel and brought it to the Coast Guard pier.
Once at the Coast Guard pier, the 2 Venezuelan suspects and the packages containing illegal substances were handed over to the Aruba Police Force. Meanwhile, the drugs have been destroyed. The case is under investigation, and the Aruba Police Force does not rule out the possibility of further arrests.
