Minister Dowers launches Taxi.aw: An official Government platform for Taxi fares

Minister Di Husticia Arthur Dowers

The Minister of Justice, Integration, Public Transport, and Energy, Mr. Drs. Arthur Dowers, officially launched the website https://taxi.aw for taxi fares in Aruba. The updated rates will go into effect on Wednesday, May 20, 2026.

With this new digital platform, passengers will be able to calculate taxi fares in advance in an easy, clear, and accessible manner. The “Taxi Fare Calculator” takes into account various components that influence the final price, such as the number of passengers, luggage, trunk usage, public holidays, and additional charges for late-night hours between 11:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. Additionally, users can view all the individual components that combine to form the final price.

Taxi.aw offers more flexibility for the future, allowing authorities to adapt fares and make corrections when necessary. In the next phases of development, more locations will continue to be added as departure points and destinations in the calculator. For example, instead of only using general descriptions like Low-Rise, Eagle Beach, High-Rise South, or High-Rise North, users will be able to search directly by the name of their destination.

Furthermore, on the website, users can find important information regarding the conditions and regulations for taxi services. Under the “Downloads” section, various official documents are available for download. There are also posters, flyers, and QR codes that can be printed to be placed inside taxis, at the airport, hotel lobbies, restaurant lobbies, and other tourist locations. More official documents will be uploaded soon.

Another important component of Taxi.aw is that passengers can now submit complaints directly through the website in case of overcharging or other violations related to the taxi service.

Minister Dowers indicated that the main goal of Taxi.aw is to make taxi fares and service regulations clearer, more modern, and more accessible for taxi drivers, passengers, and the entire tourism sector. The Government wants a system that is more transparent and user-friendly for everyone. Taxi.aw is an important step in modernizing our transport services and in strengthening trust between service providers and users.
