This activity on the third Tuesday in September is a good opportunity to pay attention to the meaning of Princes Day in the Netherlands and its meaning for the countries within the Kingdom, in particular the country of Aruba. This year the activity was delayed by a month due to circumstances.

The day began with a short presentation by VNO on the significance of the Prince’s Day and the Speech from the Throne. The presentation of the budget to Parliament and the debates on it, the so-called general political and financial considerations, were also discussed.

In addition, the special guest of the morning, Mr Rolf van der Zande of the Advisory Council, explained in an interactive way how the budgetary process of Aruba works and what is the role of the States in it.

The presentations were interspersed with lively debates on current topics, in which different groups of pupils were asked to defend different points of view, earning half a credit for the course in Public Administration.
