The PPA faction is closely monitoring the recent developments between Venezuela and the United States in the Caribbean region. According to the party, the rising tensions in the area are a concern not only for the Caribbean islands but also for the Netherlands itself.

During a recent information session in the House of Representatives, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defense were called upon to provide clarity regarding the Netherlands’ position and the measures that may be taken depending on how the international situation evolves.

The Minister of Defense informed parliamentarians that although the situation requires close monitoring, there is no reason for alarm. He emphasized that the Netherlands has already prepared an action plan containing four different scenarios to protect and defend its territory and communities in the Caribbean, should the situation in Venezuela or the U.S. develop in a way that could affect the region.

The PPA stresses the importance of remaining alert and maintaining continuous dialogue between the Netherlands and the Caribbean islands to ensure that appropriate measures can be taken in time.
