This morning, the Parliament of Aruba will address the budget for the Investment Fund (Investeringsfonds), an initiative approved by Parliament last June.

This fund represents a structural change in public financial management, according to Member of Parliament Muzannine Wever.

Unlike the regular budget where unused resources at the end of the year are lost or must be reallocated, the funds in the Investment Fund roll over into the following year.

This ensures that large-scale projects, which are often left out of regular budgets, receive the necessary funding and are executed from start to finish without interruption.

The fund translates campaign promises into concrete achievements for the well-being of the country, covering infrastructure as well as maintenance work and digitalization.

Nearly 59 Million Florins Allocated to Strategic Projects

According to the latest review, the Investment Fund will have nearly 59 million florins allocated to a variety of vital projects for our society. Among the most prominent projects are:

Roads and Infrastructure: Nearly 7 million florins are allocated for the maintenance of existing roads and the construction of new roads around the island.

Housing: Investments in housing projects, addressing one of the largest and most urgent needs in our community.

Development for San Nicolas: Construction of the MFA in San Nicolas, a project that this district has been waiting for for many years.

Education and Public Health: Renovation of schools, such as the Reina Beatrix school, and improvement works at the Sero Colorado berm.

Public Service Improvement: Replacement of DOW dump trucks to strengthen cleaning operations in our neighborhoods.

Digitalization (e-Government): Continuation of e-Government digitalization and systems at Social Affairs (Sociale Zaken), allowing citizens to complete their procedures online in a faster and more efficient manner.
